PERL Scripting for the Web Online

Learn PERL; the scripting language most used in developing web-based applications in this instructor-led online class.

Learn the syntax and structure of PERL and how to read from and write to files. Learn to create functions and classes in PERL. Learn to read and write to a database and how to generate output. Learn to collect data users submit on a web-based form and to use it to generate custom web pages. Students will need access to a web-server that uses PERL.

In this course students will:

  • Install PERL and create some simple scripts.
  • Write PERL scripts to create output and work with variables.
  • Write PERL code which uses mathematical operators, conditional statements and loops.
  • Write PERL statements which use Regular Expressions to match or replace characters in a block of text.
  • Write PERL statements which read and write data in files.
  • Write PERL code which contains subroutines and functions.
  • Write PERL scripts which can be executed by a web server.
  • Write PERL scripts which interface with a database.
  • Write PERL code which uses packages and reference variables.
  • Create a PERL project using what they have learned in this course.
